A very rare Osbourn Ivorex commemorative plaque, cream-coloured and molded from composition material, featuring a central oval-shaped recess. Within this recess, a detailed relief scene depicts four fighter aircraft, consistent with British WWII-era Spitfires or Hurricanes and bearing visible roundels, engaged in aerial combat above a landscape with water and a tall, Gothic-style spire, possibly representing a cathedral. Encircling this scene is the painted inscription: “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few, ” a direct quote from Winston Churchill famously referencing the Battle of Britain. The item is inferred to be from the World War II period or shortly thereafter.
