A Japanese Inaba cloisonné enamel box, Meiji Period. This rectangular lidded box features a domed lid constructed from brass with extensive cloisonné enamel decoration. The domed lid displays a vibrant multi-coloured floral arrangement, including peonies and irises, accompanied by two birds, set against a light green background with stylized landscape elements. The box’s sides are decorated with a repeating pattern of white five-petal flowers against a darker green swirling scroll motif. The flat base features a symmetrical central scroll design emanating from a five-petal flower on an off-white ground, bordered by a scalloped edge. The interior is unadorned, showing tarnished brass. The lid would have once been attached via a cantilever mechanism but this is not present. 16x11x5cm
