Terms & Conditions

Buying Through Golden Auctions

All lots are sold strictly on an “as seen” basis. Descriptions provided for items are intended solely as a guide and should not be relied upon as a guarantee of condition or authenticity. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, all images displayed are of the actual item available for auction. Buyers are responsible for carefully reading item descriptions and reviewing all associated images before bidding. Condition reports are available upon request, however, we are unable to send condition reports within 24 hours of the auction start. Prospective buyers are strongly encouraged to arrange a viewing of any item of interest. Viewings are strictly by appointment only.

Electrical items are to be treated as untested unless otherwise specified in the description, and buyers accept full responsibility and risk for their use.

Commission Charges for Buyers

A buyer’s premium of 15% is applicable to all lots purchased, calculated on top of the hammer price. There is a minimum buyer’s premium of £2.50 per lot.

Payment of Lots and Invoices

All items won must be paid for in full within 72 hours of the sale ending and upon receipt of the invoice. This payment includes any applicable postage or courier charges and any relevant taxes. Failure to make payment within this period will incur a late payment fee of £5 per invoice per day.

Collection and Delivery

Buyers must contact Golden Auctions within 72 hours of the sale’s conclusion to arrange either collection or delivery of their lots. Collection is strictly by appointment, which must take place within one week of the sale. Although COVID restrictions are no longer officially in place, buyers and staff are expected to maintain polite social distancing during collection for everyone’s comfort.

If items are not collected within the specified timeframe, or if no alternative arrangements are agreed, a storage charge of £5 per invoice per day will apply for up to seven days. Thereafter, the fee increases to £10 per invoice per day for a further seven days. After a total of 21 days, any remaining lots will be considered forfeited. Such items will be re-sold in the next available auction, the buyer may be barred from further participation at Golden Auctions’ sole discretion, and any payments already made will be forfeited and are non-refundable. Ownership of the goods will revert to Golden Auctions.

All items should be carefully inspected by the buyer upon collection. Once items have left the premises, they are deemed accepted and no refunds or returns will be considered. Buyers are responsible for bringing appropriate assistance or equipment to load items into their vehicles, as staff assistance cannot always be guaranteed.

Selling Through Golden Auctions Ltd

Golden Auctions accepts select items from various vendors and encourages interested parties to get in touch regarding entry into current or upcoming auctions. The seller’s commission is 20% of the hammer price, with a minimum lot value charge of £6.

To cover staff costs associated with sorting and preparing items for sale, a lotting fee of £2.50 per item or lot, per auction, is charged on sold lots only. For house clearance items, a lotting fee of £3 per item or lot applies for each auction entry. Additionally, an insurance and damages charge of 1.5% per lot is levied.

Golden Auctions also offers bulk clearance services for domestic and commercial properties or storage facilities. Prospective clients are invited to discuss their specific requirements.

The auction house reserves the right to refuse any item or group of items without explanation. Upon acceptance, vendors must complete the necessary paperwork, including a full listing of all items to be entered and any required reserve prices.

Payments to vendors for items sold are made via bank transfer, not earlier than 30 working days after the relevant auction. Payments are only issued for items that have been paid for and collected by the buyer. Some buyers may have extended payment terms based on their transaction history and payment record.

Items are typically allowed a maximum of three auction entries. After each unsuccessful attempt, Golden Auctions will contact the vendor to discuss possible changes to pricing or lot details, or to arrange collection of unsold items. After three unsuccessful auctions, items cannot be re-entered for a minimum of six months. If not collected within seven days of the third entry, items will be deemed donated to the auction house, and any future proceeds from such items will go to a charity of Golden Auctions’ choice or towards administration costs.
